I felt physical pain when I came across this sentence. Look at it. Look at it!
"Very many of the actual workers, are not given customary rights – residency permits, or family visitation rights, for instance."
And the next one:
"They retain their jobs in the most perilous of ways, with escape not possible, and sickness framing a very invitation to disaster."
Very invitation? Sigh.
This isn't academia. This is a book review written by a (full-time?) book reviewer at Scroll.
So many parts of the review feels like ticking boxes. When robots or AI write reviews, they'll probably be better than this one.
